DEPRESSION
Depression can bring painful messages: “I’m a failure,” “I should feel ashamed,” or “I never get anything right.” Hearing those thoughts repeatedly can make them feel like facts.
Just because we have a thought doesn’t make it true. Just because we have a belief doesn’t make it true.
Through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), we can practice noticing those thoughts with curiosity and creating some distance from them. You are more than the labels your mind gives you.
Together, we’ll develop greater awareness of your emotions and physical sensations, practice self-compassion, and explore small actions connected to what matters to you. We can also notice how painful predictions may narrow your choices and gently make room for other possibilities.
I offer depression support to clients struggling with drugs, alcohol, or sexual compulsivity.
I treat trauma and PTSD differently, using Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).
